This collection brings together rare radio recordings that trace the early and mid-career stages of Jacques Brel. The first side features intimate live performances from 1954 and 1956, captured at the cabarets Chez Geneviève and Chez Gilles—raw documents of Brel before his breakthrough.

On the flip side is a 1965 jam session recorded at the Maison de la Radio. At the height of his powers, Brel delivers a stripped-back, deeply emotional version of ‘Amsterdam’, accompanied only by pianist Gérard Jouannest and double bassist Pierre Sim. The album closes with a 1962 recital at the Alhambra, recorded for the programme Discoparade, where Brel—now a commanding stage presence—is backed by piano and string ensemble.
