Freddie McGregor's Showcase album, released in 1981 and known in the UK as 'Lover's Rock Showcase Jamaica Style', marked a pivotal moment in the singer's career. Prior to this, McGregor had enjoyed only modest success, though his work, crafted with various producers, had consistently showcased a talented artist with an authentic voice. A major turning point came in 1979 when he teamed up with producer Winston "Niney" Holness to create the acclaimed 'Mr. McGregor' album (MOVLP4005). That record significantly boosted his profile.
On this record Roots and romance are in perfect harmony as Niney's Dub magic meets McGregor's spin on classic soul, just as the title promises.
Lover's Rock Showcase Jamaica Style is available as limited numbered edition of 750 copies on orange coloured vinyl.
