For east coast duo Joyer — brothers Nick and Shane Sullivan — distance has shaped recent years: from home, from each other, and from stability. Their new album, On the Other End of the Line…, reflects on these shifts, mixing anxieties with hope through hook-filled indie rock and textured guitars.

Since 2024’s Night Songs, Nick moved from Brooklyn to Philadelphia and Shane from Boston to Brooklyn, all while touring extensively with Horse Jumper of Love, Wishy, and villagerrr. Life on the road brought isolation but also renewed purpose, deepening their bond and inspiring fresh material.

Recorded over eight days in Chicago with Henry Stoehr of Slow Pulp, the album embraces an exploratory approach reminiscent of their early basement recordings. Folk-tinged melodies and ambitious arrangements replace much of their shoegaze haze, revealing Joyer at their most open and emotionally direct.
