Monophonics and Colemine Records present a 10th anniversary edition of Sound of Sinning, the San Francisco band’s breakthrough album and a landmark of modern psychedelic soul.

First released in 2015, the record marked a step forward from the raw funk and soul of their earlier work. While rooted in the Bay Area lineage of Sly & The Family Stone, early Funkadelic and the Temptations’ Norman Whitfield era, the band broadened their sound to embrace Northern soul, doo-wop, psych-pop, rock and cinematic influences. The result is a record that feels both steeped in tradition and vividly of its time.

Produced by Kelly Finnigan and Ian McDonald at Transistor Sound Studios on vintage analogue gear, Sound of Sinning captures a timeless atmosphere where classic songwriting meets contemporary vision. Its tracks have since reached millions of listeners worldwide, securing the group’s reputation as modern torchbearers of psych-soul.

Since its release, Monophonics have built on its success with It’s Only Us and Sage Motel, plus international tours and collaborations with Lee Fields. This reissue offers the chance to revisit the record that set them on their path.
