Needle Mythology, the label founded by music writer and broadcaster Pete Paphides, presents the first stand-alone live album by The Lilac Time. The Lilac Time – Live gathers ten performances from a summer 2007 concert at the Griffin Theatre in Hereford, recorded days before the group’s main-stage set at the Green Man Festival in rural Wales.
Thought to be lost for 17 years, the recording was rediscovered by Stephen Duffy in early 2025. Listening back, he found the entire show brimming with warmth, charm and purpose. Featuring members from across the band’s history — Claire Duffy, Nick Duffy, Micky Harris, Melvin Duffy and Michael Giri — the set flows seamlessly from the hazy beauty of ‘Trumpets From Montparnasse’ to the rousing ‘The Lost Girl In The Midnight Sun’, an anthem for dreamers who still believe in community.
Favourites such as ‘Return To Yesterday’, ‘Driving Somewhere’, ‘A Day In The Night’ and ‘The Silence’ sit alongside deeper treasures, all infused with the group’s signature folk-pop grace. Stephen has contributed detailed liner notes for each song, with artwork by James Gosling and mastering by Miles Showell at Abbey Road.
