Weval - CHOROPHOBIA (Vinyl LP) PRE-ORDER

Ninja Tune imprint Technicolour are pleased to announce Weval’s forthcoming album,
CHOROPHOBIA, set for release on Friday 5th September. Weval (Harm Coolen and Merijn
Scholte Albers) are a critically acclaimed, Amsterdam-based duo who have established a solid
reputation across the globe for crafting highly textured and sophisticated electronic music.
● The album features vocals from UK-based electronic producer DJ, KILIMANJARO, as
well as Nsanshi.
● With their fourth studio album, CHOROPHOBIA, Weval faced their fears. When the pair
stumbled across the phrase chorophobia - which means a fear of dancing - they decided
to lean into the irony and get out of their comfort zones. “Until that point, we had always
worked on records with a 'listening' mindset...we realised that we’ve been scared of
making dance music for all of our journey as producers”.
● The unrestricted, genre-crossing ethos of this record makes room for guilty pleasures,
higher BPMs, big drops and an increased number of hi-hats.
● This summer, Weval will be supporting Rüfüs Du Sol on his European Tour, including a
stop at Crystal Palace Park, London, and performing to over 65,000+ people across the
tour.
● The duo have recently performed in London at Fabric as well as Polygon festival
(alongside Max Cooper and Jon Hopkins) and are set to headline Lofi in Amsterdam on
25th May. Further headline touring to follow.
● Previously, they have toured Europe, UK and North America extensively, including
headline shows at HERE at Outernet, London, Bataclan, Paris and Paradiso,
Amsterdam. Plus, have had DJ sets in Berlin, London, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Prague,
LA and NYC, amongst many more.
● They have also performed to emphatic festival crowds at Primavera Sound, Lost
Village, Rock en Seine, Lowlands, Best Kept Secret, Pukkelpop, DGTL Amsterdam,
Lightning In A Bottle, Pitchfork festival Germany and many more.
